Freeserve connects using LANmark
Freeserve is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wanadoo, a leading European online media and services company with France Telecom as it’s largest shareholder. It has become the UK’s leading access provider and distributes access CD’s and PC’s preloaded with access software via a chain of over 1100 retail stores owned by the Dixons Group including Dixons, Currys, PC World and The Link.
The new Leeds Technical HQ has brought together several satellite offices which had grown at various locations around Leeds into a single centralised site.
The new premises are housed in an 18th Century listed malthouse formerly owned by Tetley’s Brewery. The building has undergone complete refurbishment and the construction and layout presented several problematic issues for the TTC. In addition to the special restrictions imposed by listed status, the physical layout demanded the use of ultra low profile flooring which provided very little space for standard floor box terminations. However, TTC were able to solve the problem using angled snap-in modules from Nexans housed in low profile floor boxes made especially for the project.
Freeserve’s Network Manager commented, “the building construction clearly presented some unusual problems but the installation has been completed in a very professional manner and we are confident that we have an infrastructure with the performance and reliability to meet our needs for the foreseeable future.“
